TRU WOLFPACK GOLF
2008 CCAA National Champions
Returning to college golf after nearly a decade, Thompson Rivers University's WolfPack has encountered nothing but success since its reestablishment in 2008. A story-book season, the WolfPack was crowned national 2008 CCAA Golf Champions defeating defending champions, Humber College of Ontario. In addition, the team was named 2008 Kamloops Sports Council Team of the Year with Coach Bill Bilton Jr. walking away with the title of Coach of the Year.
Making the move back to Kamloops after living and coaching in the U.S., Bilton had high hopes for the resurrection of a TRU golf team in 2008. A former coach of the UCC team, Bilton gathered support from various community sponsors, including The Dunes at Kamloops, and held tryouts which resulted in an eleven man team.
Due to a loss of players, Bilton is actively recruiting players for the upcoming 2009 season. With a goal to clinch both the provincial and national titles this year, Bilton expects to continually build the team and become a true powerhouse in the years to come.
